Our SERVE Ministry has been busy planning some exciting opportunties for our North Terrace family to serve the community of Zanesville over the next several months. Check out the exciting events that have been planned and if you have other ideas for ways that we can serve the members of our community, contact Danny Harp. Danny, his SERVE ministry team and our Mission Committee are interested in partnering with you to make an impact on our community.
SERVE Projects
School Supply Drive 2010
For the past several years, North Terrace has collected school supplies and book bags to distribute to families in need within our North Terrace flock as well as within the Zanesville community. Our goal this year is to help 50 students with supplies. Supplies and book bags can be placed in the designated area in the foyer. Deadline for supply drop-off is August 8th.
Free Stuff Giveaway
Our North Terrace famliy is encouraged to bring items fromhome that are in good shape but no longer needed for our Free Stuff Giveaway. Items are collected and stored at the church throughout the summer leading up to the event. Many volunteers are needed the weekp rior and the day of the event to sort, organize, manage and to display items.
Help a Local Family with Home Repairs
Two local families are in need of some home repairs and we want to help. Both projects will have a project manager to oversee our North Terrace volunteers. You must be 14 years old or older to help with these projects. We also need volunteers to provide drinks and food for the work teams. The majority of work the these projects will take place on one or two Saturdays. Be watching for additional information.
ServeFest - September 11th
A communmity-wide effort to make an impact on the community of Zanesville . . . all local churches are asked to participate. Each church is asked to come up with a service project to implement on this day. We are looking for a planning team to fine-tune our project for the day as well as volunteers to assist on September 11th.
Possible Halloween Alternative for the Community - October 31st
Our ministerial staff is looking at the possibility of offering a community wide event to be held here at North Terrace on the evening of October 31st. Once the vision is realized and approved by our leadership team, we will then see hundreds of volunteers to help. In the meantime, if yo have any thoughts, ideas, or resources you could offer to us in providing such an event, please talk to a member of the ministerial staff.
Veterans Day Parade - November 6th
Our involvement in the Zanesville Veterans Day Parade last year was a great experience for everyone who participated. This year we are looking for a planning team and volunteers to assist with our involvement in this year's parade.
Thanksgiving Meal at North Terrace - November 17th
Every Wednesday we have families who take advantage of our North Terrace Food Pantry. This year we want to provide a special Thanksgiving meal for them here at our facility. We are in need of individuals to serve on a ploanning team for this project and we will be looking for many volunteers to serve on the day of the event. Be watching for more details.
Christmas Eve Donut Delivery - December 24th
Every uear many of us celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with little thought of those who, because of their service to our community, are working. This year we want to provide a source of encouragement to those who are serving in fire stations, police headquarters, emergency rooms, hospitals and 24-hour businesses. Following our Christams Eve services, you and your family will have the opportunity to pick-up a dozen gift-warpped donuts to deliver to somewhere in the community. We will need a team of people to pick up the donuts, to gift wrap them, and to attach a card from our North Terrace family on the morning of Christmas Eve in preparation for others to pick them up following the services that evening.
Pregnancy Center Baby Bottle Campaign - 2011
Our Serve Ministry Team has decided to take on this fund raising campaign in 2011. This is an excellent expression of our concern for the community and especially to men and women who may find themselves dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. The money collected is given to the Zanesville Pregnancy Distress Center, which is a 100% pro-life ministry. The clinic provides honest answers about pregnancy, adoption, parenting and abortion. Baby bottles will be available on Mother's Day and filled with spare change between that Sunday and Father's Day.
Drive-thru Ministry - February 6-20, 2011
There is not much we can say about this project right now. There is an element of surprise that we want to maintain. We can say that it will be very unique, incredibly simple, and will bring a smile to those whom we touch through this outreach. We will use Valentine's Day as the focus of this project and again, we think this one will have the community talking. Be watching for more details in the coming months.
North Terrace Easter Egg Hunt - April 24, 2011
It is with great anticipation that we look forward to our 2011 Easter Egg Hunt. Our 2010 team evaluated our egg hunt from this year and have gleaned some great information to make our 2011 Easter Egg Hunt even bigger and better! We are looking for volunteers to help us as we plan for next year's event. The planning team will geing to meet regularly from October until the event April 2011.
