What is your professional background?  I worked for Schneider National for eight years as a diesel mechanic. Currently employed for the past nine years at Wal-Mart as a truck mechanic and supervisor.

Tell us about your family:  My wife's name is Angie and I have two children, Sarah (10) and Kyle (7).

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   My wife, Angie.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I am a deacon and I lead a Junior High small group on Sunday night.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon? I am involved with the Men's Group, a small group, various mission trips, and I assist Dick Brown with building maintenance and I also maintain the church vehicles.

What is your favorite Bible verse? Anything in James, but James 1:19-20 stands out to me. "My dear brothers, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and sow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."

What is your favorite book (besides the Bible)?  I don't really have any other favorites.

Do you have a favorite TV show or movie? Matrix and Heroes

What is your favorite food?  Steak

Hobbies or interests?  I enjoy my kids, backpacking, and traveling to new places.

What is your professional background?  Taught physical education for six years in Roseville. School counselor for three years in Zanesville and for 13 years in Cambridge.

Tell us about your family:  I have been married for 24 years to my wife Lynne, who has taught school for 21 years in New Concord. We have one son, Jeff, who will be a freshman at Zanesville High School this fall.

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   My parents and church family.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I have been a deacon for 12 years.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon? I do minor maintenance around the church building and help Dick Brown with other jobs as necessary.

What is your favorite Bible verse? Galatians 6:9

What is your favorite book (besides the Bible)?  "Leading with the Heart" by Coach Krzyzewski.

Bob Bowles

Where were you born?    Zanesville, Ohio on January 26,1932

Where did you attend school?  Zanesville City Schools; 2 years at OUZ

Were you in the military?  Yes, U.S. Army in Alaska (Transportation Corp.); 2 years

What is your professional background?  Master Electrician; Plumbing estimating; worked at the Roekle Company for 19 years and was president for 8 years

Tell us about your family:  I have two daughters, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.  I am one of eight children.  I have six sisters and one brother (all living). My mother and father have passed away. My wife, Carole, passed away on June 12, 2004.

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   Ken Kline and Ron Moyer.  I have attended NTCoC since age five.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  Deacon and elder; was contact person with contractor of new building

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon?  Building superintendent; Small Group leader; Mission Ministry; Stewardship Ministry

Where did you attend school?  Granville High School; Ohio University - BS in Communication Systems Management

What is your professional background?  I have worked at the Longaberger Company for 12 years. I started doing computer repair and then moved to telephone system administration. I am now a network engineer.

Tell us about your family:  My wife, Jenny, and I met in Athens while attending Ohio University. We have been married for 11 years and have three children (Hannah, Heidie, and Jackson).

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   Rich Teske, who is a campus minister for Reach Out on Campus at OU. He baptized me in 1994 and was very influential in my walk with Jesus as a new Christian. Since then, Rob Walker, Brad Giffin, Derrill Wakefield and Larry Tumblin have challenged me to continually deepen my walk.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I became a deacon at North Terrace in 2000.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon?  I serve in the sound booth doing video work and lead various activities with the Men's Ministry. I have been the board secretary for six years and am a smalll group leader, as well.

What is your favorite Bible verse?  “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." 1 Peter 3:15-16

What is your favorite book (besides the Bible)? Cabela's Fall Master Catalog

Do you have a favorite TV show or movie? Mythbusters, Man vs. Wild and the Indiana Jones Series

What is your favorite food?  Southern BBQ (ribs and pulled pork) and a good steak  

Do you have a favorite eatery?  I have many: Chipotle, Flat Iron Grill, Amazon grille, and Mongolian BBQ, just to name a few.

What is your favorite sport, sport team, or board game? Ohio State Buckeyes football and Cleveland Indians baseball

Hobbies or interests?  Deer and pheasant hunting, planning and taking family vacation, coaching kids' soccer. I love to cook in my dutch oven over the campfire and hope to form a team with Larry Tumblin to compete in the National Dutch Over Cook-off.

Do you have hidden talent(s)? My head is full of useless movie/TV trivia. I can also do a mean Jim Tressel impersonation.

Don Janicki

Where were you born?   Manistee, Michigan (a small town of about 8000 people right on Lake Michigan)

Where did you attend school?  Manistee High School (Class of 1964); Ohio State University (1969-1971)

Were you in the military?  Yes, twice. US Coast Guard (1965-1969) including one year on the island of Iwo Jima and again in the Ohio National Guard (1991-1994) including two support missions to Germany during the first gulf war.

What is your professional background? Zanesville City Firefighter (1971-1978), Central Ohio Coal Mine (1978-1987), AEP/Ohio Power Telecommunications (1987-2003)

Tell us about your family:  Mary and I were married at Woodlawn Church of Christ on July 22, 2967 just before I left for Iwo Jima. We have a son (Matthew) and a daughter (Julie). Matt has three girls (Gillian, Olivia, and Mallory) and Julie has a daughter (Jocee - who has been blind since birth) and a son (Justin).

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   My wife, Mary. She helped me to see the Bible as life instructions and not as a reference gook. I was baptized the week before we were married.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I have been a deacon for several years.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon?  My health problems prevent me from being involved much, but I have served on several committees, have been a regular Sunday School teacher/substitute teacher, helped with the nursing home services, and am in the process of starting an early morning small group.

What is your favorite Bible verse? "Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. What is your professional background?  I was an Electronic Radar Repairmen Instructor in the United States Air Force and I worked at Owens Corning for 37 years as a maintenance electrician.

Tell us about your family:  Sharon and I have been married for four years and we have seven children, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   Ralph Medley, Bob Wiley, and Bill Matheney.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I have been a deacon for six years.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon?  I am on the Mission Committee, sing in the adult and senior choirs, and help facilitate a small group. I was the leader for the New Horizon Retreat, and Sharon and I are actively involved with the 50+ ministry.

Hobbies or interests?  Traveling, camping, sitting around a campfire that was built by the master fire builder, Bill Matheney, and listening to Bill and Bob Wiley as they share their campfire stories.

Do you have hidden talent(s)? Not many people know that for 17 years I had my own business selling, installing and servicing satellite systems.

Arv Palmer

Where were you born?    Steubenville, Ohio

Where did you attend school?  I graduated from Jefferson Union High School in Richmond, Ohio. I also attend Purdue University in Indiana and graduated from the University of Findlay.

Were you in the military?  I retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after serving over 20 years on active duty.

What is your professional background?  After working as a Materials Leader at Colgate Palmolive Company in Cambridge, Ohio for over 17 years, I retired in October 2006.

Tell us about your family:  My wife Pat and I have been married for over 28 years. We have three adult children (Amy, Philip and Ellen) and five grandchildren (Phoenix, Anthony, Paul, Michael and Elijah).

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   I think that there were two people who influenced my decision to be baptized . . . my wife Pat and Don St. Clair, a friend from the Navy.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I am a deacon and am currently the chairman of the board.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon? I am the Bible Bowl coordinator for NTCoC and am a small group leader of the 1st/3rd Thursday "Soup Group" small group. I have served on several committees, have taught adult Sunday School classes, and am currently teaching a Wednesday Night adult Bible study. I also teach a Bible study at Falls Manor with two ministers from Zanesville. I also enjoy working with the Free Stuff Giveaway, the Communion Preparation Ministry and as a communion server.

What is your favorite Bible verse? "Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15.

What is your professional background?  I have worked in the school bus industry for more than 24 years.

Tell us about your family:  I have been married to Diana for more than 22 years. We have two daughters, Sadie, age 12, and Cassie, age 9.

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   My mother and my pastor during my teen years, Donald Dohm, influenced me most of all.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I have been a deacon for more than six years.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon? I am a youth sponsor and I play in Kardia and the worship band. I am chairman of the Preschool Board, am on the church board, and I oversee intramural basketball and volleyball.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I am a deacon.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon?  I am in a small group and I help clean up after first service and get ready for second service.

What is your professional background?  I am a graduate of Barber College and was a stationery engineer with AEP in Conesville.

Tell us about your family:  My wife's name is Arlene and we have five sons (James, Kent, Michael, Mitchell and Barry). We also have 19 grandchildren.

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   My grandfather.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I am a deacon.

Jim Swingle

Where were you born?    Zanesville, Ohio

Where did you attend school?  Crooksville, Ohio (I took some religious courses at Wittenburg University and Ohio Valley College).

Were you in the military?  Yes, I was stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia with the Quartermaster Corp.

What is your professional background?  I am the CEO of our family-owned business (PetroWare; Swingle Drilling;Swingle SDI Steel Building; New Burley Winter Pottery; Swingle Real Property).

Tell us about your family:  I am married to Yvonne Swingle (two wives deceased). I have 11 children, 29 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Who led you to or influenced you most for the Lord?   An old minister led me from being a pew sitter to knowing Jesus as my Savior and personal friend. When be brought me into the church, he cried.

What is your leadership experience at North Terrace?  I am a better follower than a leader.

How are you involved at North Terrace in addition to serving as an Elder/Deacon? In addition to serving communion, I conduct a church service/Bible study at the Inn at Summervile every Sunday from 10:00-11:00 am and have been doing that since 2001.

What is your favorite Bible verse? Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all of these things will be given to you as well."

What is your favorite book (besides the Bible)? The Divine Imperative by Brunner.

Do you have a favorite TV show or movie? Cowboy movies.

What is your favorite food? Anything green and fresh fruit.

Do you have a favorite eatery? Any place (or anyone) who cooks like my mother and is not too expensive.

Hobbies or interests?  I love gardening and flowers. Work is also a hobby.
