Opportunity for Youth Minister

North Terrace Church of Christ is a growing church of 750 with a Family Life Center located in east-central Ohio. God has given us an exciting vision for the future in reaching our community. At this time, we have a job opportunity for a Youth Minister. Prospective candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in ministry and have a demonstrated commitment to Restoration Movement principles. Three or more years experience as an ordained Church of Christ/Christian Church minister demonstrating success in youth ministry is preferred. Skills must include developing relationships with youth inside and outside the church, excellent teaching, counseling teens, leading small group/devotion groups, organizing social activities, managing a budget and leading volunteers. Additionally, planning and leading youth worship is desired. The successful candidate will be service-minded, passionate, organized, self-motivated and team oriented.

Job Description for Youth Minister

I.  General Description:

The Minister of Youth is the minister and general administrator of the North Terrace youth program. Youth are defined as those students 6th – 12th grades through young adults. As a staff member, he will be under the administrative responsibility of the Lead Minister and the spiritual leadership of the Elders.
II.  Responsibilities
Planning
~ Overseeing both short and long range planning for the youth program.
~ Planning, overseeing and implementing annual youth functions. Examples include, but are not limited to, Summer in the Son, Ohio Teens for Christ, Teen Celebration, youth led Worship services, etc.
~ Planning, developing and overseeing Sunday School and Small Groups, Sunday Evening Youth Group Meeting, and midweek activities.
~ Encouraging and arranging participation in approved external programs such as church camps like Round Lake.
Facilitating
~ Providing leadership in meeting the goals and objectives of the youth program.
~ Recruiting, screening, training and general supervising of all teachers, workers, and sponsors of youth activities.
~ Locating, evaluating and selecting appropriate curriculum.
~ Ensuring that the classrooms are equipped and that the teachers have needed resources.
~ Budgetary responsibility for the youth program; oversight of spending policy as defined by the Budget Committee and Office Manager/Treasurer.
~ Promoting and publicizing all youth activities and events in conjunction with the support staff and other ministers.
~ Ensuring that all safety measures and legal liabilities are met during all activities.
Shepherding
~ Establishing a personal relationship of trust and respect from each student by reaching out to them and following their interests.
~ Attendance tracking and follow up/off site visitation (school, sporting events, etc).
~ Coordinating the youth’s involvement in the ministries of the church, and in other areas of service (choirs, work teams, mission trips, etc…).
~ Other duties as assigned by the Lead Minister or the Elders.
III.  Conduct
As minister, he is to fulfill the roles of shepherd, teacher, and representative of this local congregation. He will minister (evangelize, disciple, counsel) to all youth and train them in the spiritual disciplines through programming, visitation, and example.
