| Five
ways to describe him . . . |
- Publicly he is
an easy going guy who privately
takes everything seriously.
- He is an intense
Ohio State Fan who loves to watch
the Buckeye Football Team.(Played
ball with Archie Griffin years ago).
- He has been on
a perpetual diet for the last 20
years. Although the restrictions
come and go he rarely goes through
a period of life where he just eats
all he wants anytime he wants. Thus
he has three sets of clothes hanging
in his closet for three different
seasons of life.
- Bill loves to relax
on Sunday Nights with a Diet Pepsi,
some Chips, a White Chocolate Reese
Cup and the Discovery Channel. After
spending all day with Christians
he jokingly says “he needs
to watch something kill something.”
- He has mellowed
in his competitiveness over the years. While
he used to have to win, be the best,
come in first place. He now gets
his joy in the company and not the
competition.
|
| About
his family . . . |
- Bill is one of
six children, born and raised in
Columbus. Ohio. He loves
his family and is known to call
his mother a minimum of five times
per week. He will drop anything
to sneak in a visit with his granddaughter
Grace. Finds a deep sense
of fulfillment in having family
around. Doesn’t have
to be doing anything special when
family is involved - just being
together brings a deep sense of
satisfaction to him.
- He has three daughters
all Married. Courtney
and Devon Maestri. Whitney
and Nate Hutcheson, Alison
and Ryan Morrow (Granddaughter Grace) and
a son Ben who is single.
- Bill and his wife
Tami enjoy historical vacations (Planned
by his wife) and relaxing vacations
(Planned by Bill).
|
| What
he loves. . . |
- Bill loves practical
jokes (Ask him about Dog Jaw) sometime. And
he loves to joke around with his
Golfing Buddies Tom Shelton, Pat
Matheny, Chuck Morehead and Sam
Dunn. The laughter is more
important than the golf match to
him.
- He loves his three
little pups Sadie, Snoop Dog – E – Dog,
and Sweet P. As king of their
world he desires to make their lives
as happy as he possibly can.
|
| What
are his pet peeves . . . |
- Cannot understand
how anyone could not LOVE White
Castle Hamburgers
- People who sit
at a red light with their turn signal
blinking and don’t turn right
when traffic is clear.
- People who have
30 items in a 15 items or less line.
- People who leave
during the invitation to get out
ahead of everyone. God is
worthy of an extra five – especially
when someone around you may be contemplating
salvation!
|
| What
is his dream for ministry . . . |
To watch North
Terrace continue to grow and make
an even bigger impact in
this community.
|
| If
he wasn't a minister . . . |
He would be a
school teacher. Working with
people and leaving them better
than when he found them makes his
engine rev.
|
| Other
places his talents has taken him
. . . |
While he doesn’t
like to compromise his duties here
at North Terrace with outside speaking
engagements he usually does several
per year. One of the highlights
of his speaking engagements was
to speak at his twin daughters
Baccalaureate at Kentucky Christian
University.
|
| Where
he learned his stuff . . . |
Bill graduated
from Great Lakes Bible College
and has participated in the Masters
Program at Kentucky Christian University
and the Beeson Institute sponsored
by Asbury Theological Seminary.
|
| Where
did we find him . . . |
This is Bills
first preaching ministry. He
came to North Terrace 24 years
ago from a successful youth Ministry
position at Greenwood Christian
Church in Canton Ohio.
|
| What
does he excel at . . . |
He loves to preach although his
introverted personality makes him
hate standing up in front of a
crowd. He enjoys crafting
a sermon to make it more palatable
after he has finished the first
draft.
|
| What
he brings to the role that you wouldn't
expect . . . |
He loves to cultivate
the wall flowers of the church
(like himself) and convince them
to allow God to help them blossom
into something they never dreamed
they could be.
|
| The
best thing about working at North
Terrace . . . |
It’s desire
to grow and his solid relationship
with the elders. He is not
interested in being at a church
that wants to remain status quo.
The church has grown from an average
of 140 to a peak average of 850
in 2005.
|
| A
typical day at North Terrace .
. . |
Finds him answering calls, giving
advice, counseling members, crafting
his sermon, sending out letters
to visitors, and trying to set
up visitation for potential members.
|
| What
are his hobbies . . . |
- He loves to go
golfing. Golf ball hunting. For
walks with his wife. And
tries to fix at least one thing
around the house on his day off
that needs attention.
- As mentioned before
he enjoys the Ohio State Football
Team with his buddy and avid fan
Tom Black.
|
| The
place he is most likely to be when
divine inspiration hits . . . |
In bed wide awake at three o’clock
in the morning. (Be still and know
that I am God).
|
| His
best advice to aspiring ministers
. . . |
Sheep Bite!
