The
Bible
2
Tim. 3:16
2 Peter 1:20-21
Prov. 30:5 |
The
Bible is God's Word to us.
It was written by human authors,
under the supernatural guidance
of the Holy Spirit. It is the
supreme source of truth for
Christian belief and living.
Because it is inspired by God
Himself, it is the truth without
any mixture of error. |
God
Gen.
1:1, 26-27, 3:22
Psa. 90:2;
Matt. 28:19
1 Peter 1:2; 2 Cor. 13:14 |
God
is the creator and ruler of
the universe. He exists in
three personalities: the Father,
Son and the Holy Spirit. The
three are co-equal and are
one God. |
Jesus
Christ
Matt.
1:22-23; Isa. 9:6 John 1:1-5
1 Cor. 15:3-4
Acts 1:9-11 |
Jesus
Christ is the Son of God. He
was born of a virgin. He is
co-equal with the Father. Jesus
lived a sinless human life
and offered Himself as the
perfect sacrifice for the sins
of all people by dying on the
cross and was raised to life
on the third day as recorded
in scripture. He now sits at
God's right hand. |
Holy
Spirit
2
Cor. 3:17
John 16:7-13
Acts 1:8
Eph. 1:13; 5:18
Gal. 5:25 |
The
Holy Spirit is co-equal with
the Father and the Son of God.
He is present in the world
to make men aware of their
need for Jesus Christ. He also
lives in every Christian from
the moment of salvation. He
provides the Christian with
power or understanding of spiritural
truth, living and guidance
for doing what is right. He
gives every believer spiritual
gifts when they are saved.
As Christians, we seek to live
under His control daily. |
Salvation
Rom.
6:23, 10:9
Acts 2:38
Eph. 2:8-9
Mark 16:16 |
Salvation
is God's free gift to us but
we must accept it. We can never
make up for our sin by self-improvement
or good works. Only by trusting
Jesus Christ as God's offer
of forgiveness, can anyone
be saved from sin's penalty
-- death. When we turn (repent)
from our self-ruled life and
turn to Jesus in faith, accepting
His grace, repenting of our
sins, confessing Him as our
Lord and being obedient to
His command of batism by immersion,
are we saved. |
Eternity
John
3:16, 2:25
Rom. 6:23
Rev. 20:15
Matt. 1:8 |
People
were created to exist forever.
We will either exist eternally
separated from God by sin or
eternally with God through
forgiveness and salvation.
To be eternally separated from
God is Hell. To be eternally
in union with Him is eternal
life. Heaven and hell are real
places of eternal existence. |
Baptism
Col.
2:12 |
We
practice and believe in baptism
by immersion, meaning, full-body
baptism under the water, the
way Jesus was baptized according
to scripture and the way the
scripture commands. |
Life
After Baptism |
"Always
be prepared to give an answer
to everyone who asks you to
give the reason for the hope
that you have."
1 Peter 3:15
"
Therefore, I urge you, brothers,
in view of God's mercy to offer
your bodies as living sacrifices,
holy and pleasing to God. . .
Do not conform any longer to
the pattern of this world but
be transformed, by the renewing
of your mind. Then you will be
able to test and approve what
God's will is -- His good, pleasing
and perfect will." Romans
12:1-2 |
Communion
- The Lord's Supper
1
Cor. 11:20-21, 33
Acts 20:28 |
Both
theologically and sociologically,
the Lord's Supper was the central
act of the weekly assemblies
of the early church. There
were meetings to take the Lord's
Supper and thse occured on
the first day of the week.
This rememberance meal is represented
by two items. First, the bread,
which represents Jesus' body
and a cup of juice or wine,
representing His blood. These
items remind believers of the
sacrifice Jesus gave for our
sins. Each Lord's day, just
as the early church did, we
to observe this remembrance
meal with other believers.
We invite every believer to
join us in this time of communion
with our Lord as He had instructed
us to do. |
